“Error opening file for writing”
Resolution
The problem is due to insufficient Windows permissions in writing the file to Windows folders.
To resolve;
- Make sure that you are installing Tourwriter from a Windows User Account that has ‘administrator’ privileges.
- Check the User account privileges by going to Windows Start > Control Panel > User accounts and Family safety > User Accounts and then Manage another account.
- Select the User account and check the account type is ‘Administrator’.
- If it is not ‘Administrator’, click on the applicable account and select ‘Administrator’.
In addition to the above, try the below:
Locate the downloaded .exe file (perhaps in your Downloads folder on your PC) and right click the file > Run as Administrator
Also, while installing Tourwriter, in the software licence agreement window, click on ‘Use Administrator Settings’ radio button and click next.
This should install Tourwriter with administrator privileges.
